AUTUMN 1997 QUARTERLY REPORT

Evolution

A nature study in natural selection

The Great Migration

Each quarter, certain accounts depart the canopy. This is not loss. It is the ancient rhythm of the herd moving toward fresher grazing grounds, allowing the remaining portfolio to flourish in richer light.

What the untrained eye reads as attrition, the seasoned observer recognizes as elegant redistribution of vitality.

Seasonal Pruning

The portfolio, like any living organism, discards what no longer serves its highest form. These departures are not failures of retention but deliberate acts of refinement. The remaining structure grows stronger, more luminous, more itself.

“In the forest, the falling leaf does not mourn. It simply returns its nutrients to the soil so the whole may endure another cycle.”

Field Notes • Third Quarter 1997

18%
migrated to new habitats
27
species observed in transition
4.2×
increase in canopy density

Our observers recorded a marked increase in portfolio health following the seasonal departure. Light penetration improved. Competitive tension among remaining accounts eased. New shoots of collaboration appeared almost immediately.
