Observe, if you will, the once-common UNDER CONSTRUCTION page.
In the fertile plains of the early World Wide Web, these bright yellow barricades flourished by the thousands. Each morning the digital naturalist would awaken to find new specimens: animated hard hats, spinning shovels, and the gentle blinking promise that "this site will be better soon."
But the balance of the ecosystem has shifted. The great migration of content has concluded. The last remaining construction barriers have been taken down. In their place now stand finished pages, complete navigation, and—most tragically—actual information.
THE APOLOGY SEQUENCE
Field Report - 1997
We regret to announce that our own humble outpost is no longer under construction. The yellow tape has been rolled up. The animated GIF worker has retired to a quieter corner of the server. Visitors expecting the familiar sight of scaffolding and "pardon our dust" messages will instead encounter a completed experience.
We extend our deepest apologies for this sudden state of completion.

The camera lingers on the empty patch of web soil where the barricade once stood. A single pixelated tumbleweed rolls across the screen. Somewhere in the distance, a modem disconnects with a mournful whine.
