THE BROWSER
KILLINGS

A true-crime investigation into widespread digital homicide. Only one browser is innocent. All others are guilty of rendering this document unreadable.

THE ONLY CORRECT BROWSER IS NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR

THE CRIME SCENE

On the morning of 12 March 1997, webmasters across the city discovered their carefully constructed pages reduced to chaos. Tables collapsed. Images refused to load. Text ran together like blood in rain.

Forensic analysis of the source code revealed one common factor in every surviving terminal: Netscape Navigator 3.0. Every other browser had left fingerprints of incompatibility.

EXHIBIT A
47 sites examined.
46 rendered as evidence of murder.
1 rendered correctly.

CONCLUSION: Netscape Navigator is the sole survivor.

THE SUSPECT LINEUP

INTERNET EXPLORER 3

Alibi: "I was busy at Microsoft." Evidence shows it deliberately ignored standard table tags. Known for leaving jagged edges at every crime scene.

LYNX 2.7

Text-only accomplice. Refused to acknowledge any visual evidence. Considered "harmless" until its refusal to render images was revealed as deliberate obstruction.

OPERA 2.1

European suspect. Claimed "artistic differences." Caught red-handed applying its own proprietary CSS rules that overwrote the victim's layout.

THE VERDICT

After exhaustive examination of the evidence, the only browser proven innocent of digital homicide is NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR.

All other browsers are hereby declared incompatible. This document will not display correctly in their presence. Attempting to view it elsewhere constitutes a crime against design.
