CASE 014 — "HIGHWAY 41"

RECOVERED 12.03.97 • KANSAS REST STOP

Single 90-minute tape found inside a discarded cooler. Side A contains 14 tracks of distorted highway recordings interspersed with a female voice repeating coordinates. Side B is blank except for one 4-minute segment of heavy breathing.

CASE 027 — "THE LAUNDROMAT TAPES"

RECOVERED 04.11.97 • DETROIT • 3 TAPES

Three identical Maxell XL-II cassettes recovered from the same dryer vent. All three contain the same 22-minute loop of a man describing a missing person in clinical detail. The loop restarts at exactly 18:42 on every tape.

CASE 031 — "BASEMENT 9"

RECOVERED 09.19.97 • ABANDONED STORAGE UNIT

Found inside a sealed cardboard box labeled "DO NOT PLAY." Contains only one track: a 47-minute recording of a party where every guest speaks in perfect unison. The final 90 seconds are silence followed by the sound of tape being rewound.
