By the turn of the century many people will purchase books, music, and clothing without ever leaving their homes. A global network of computers will handle the transactions. Retail streets will feel the change.
Simple robotic helpers will appear in homes before 2015. They will wash dishes, vacuum floors, and prepare basic meals. The domestic servant of the future will be made of silicon and steel rather than flesh and bone.
